Your First Visit and What to Expect
During your first regular visit to our practice, you will be introduced to our team and fill out any necessary paperwork. If you have dental insurance, please bring a copy of your insurance card. (You can also save time and fill out this information beforehand or online). We accept most insurance plans and will file your claims for you — if you have questions about how your specific coverage works with our practice, our insurance specialist is happy to walk you through it before your visit. We’ll start your visit with some photographs of your teeth… please don’t be self-conscious. We use these to help diagnose problems and to help better communicate with you.
Then, you will be introduced to the doctor you are seeing. During this one-on-one time, you can talk about your concerns or any questions you may have about your oral health and smile. Feel free to bring up anything you want. After the talk with the doctor, you’ll be introduced to your hygienist who will take over your appointment. She will take digital scans to evaluate for decay. Your periodontal (gum and bone) health will be evaluated and your teeth will be evaluated to make sure everything is in good health. We’ll clean your teeth or if any gum problems exist, we’ll talk to you about that. Then your doctor will come in and perform an examination. At that point, he’ll talk to you about when he sees and the two of you can discuss options to help alleviate any problems and you can ask any questions you have.
This time is yours — no rushing, no script. It’s how we get to know you as a person, not just a chart, and it’s the same approach we’ve used with Marietta families for over 60 years.
