Innovative Implants in Marietta

One or more missing teeth can impact the function and beauty of your smile. At Gilreath Family Dentistry Marietta, we offer innovative dental implant options to replace missing teeth with convenient treatments for all levels of tooth loss. Using the most advanced technology and imaging available, dentists in Marietta can provide our patients with cutting-edge tooth replacements through dental implants, including:

Illustration showing the differene between tooh and tooth implant.A dental implant replaces a missing or lost tooth. The restored implant consists of a titanium screw that is placed in your jawbone.  It replaces the root portion of a tooth. An abutment is then used in which a crown or other dental device is placed.

  1. Natural tooth
  2. An implant that would replace the natural tooth root.
  3. Crown on top of the implant that would replace the natural tooth.

Implants have been used for over three decades and have become commonplace in dental practices. If you lose a tooth and don’t replace it, several things can happen:

  • The tooth on the opposite jaw will move into the space which can cause gum and bone problems for that tooth as well as biting interference
  • Your surrounding teeth will endure more wear and use
  • Teeth will shift, causing your bite to become unstable

If you have a missing tooth in between other teeth, a dental implant is often the best option for the replacement since it does not require that any other teeth are modified or crowned. By placing a tooth implant when a tooth is extracted, the bone in the area will not reabsorb away, which would normally leave a large defect in the jaw and gum tissue. When done correctly, a crown placed using a dental implant looks and acts like a normal tooth, except that it won’t decay. For patients who have full and partial dentures, dental implants can be used to provide excellent stability and retention. Additionally, we provide other types of restorative dental care services including:

Dental implants are an ideal treatment option for most healthy patients. Implants are not an ideal option for patients with uncontrolled diabetes, heavy smokers, or patients who have bisphosphonate treatment for bone loss.

The only drawback to patients is the time it takes to complete the procedure. Dental implants have three phases – 1) a surgical phase, 2) a healing phase, 3) a restorative phase. The surgery is minor and is typically completed by an oral surgeon in his or her office. After surgery, the healing phase begins and can last between 4 and 8 months. During this critical time, the implant “integrates” into the jaw as the bone grows around and through the implant. After this process is complete, the surgeon places an abutment into the implant that protrudes into the mouth, and the restorative dentist restores the dental implant using a crown.

From an aesthetic standpoint, dental implants can be more challenging for the dentist and sometimes, like when the missing tooth is in the front part of the mouth, using a conventional bridge is a better option. Dr. Gilreath IV and Dr. Gilreath III have restored hundreds of implants, from simple single implants to complex multiple-unit cases.

Dr. Natasha is the best dentist I've seen. She's so considerate of your fear of the dentist and was so painless although multiple procedures were done at the same time to save me a visit. Will definitely be coming here for years to come Il!

Susan

Dr. Gilreath is incredible with my kids. They love going to the dentist now! And this busy mom loves the warm neck wraps, the soft music and enjoying a latte while I relax!

Was lucky enough to find these guys when I got insurance that my old dentist did not take. Very professional and friendly staff! Office has the latest greatest technology as well. If you're looking for a new dentist, search no further!

Susie L.

Very personable and friendly, they took the time to go over my complex dental history and did not pressure me into anything. They gave their recommendations and priced out any options I had. Great group!

Dr. Gilreath and his staff are top notch. I received the best cleaning I've ever had while watching my favorite show. The Doctor and his staff were all very polite, friendly, and courteous. They explained everything to me clearly and presented me with options in a gentle way that didn't make me feel pressured at all. It's obvious they really care about the wellbeing of their patients. The facility and equipment is really nice as well. I will definitely be back!

Juan R.

Always willing to work around my kids and my schedules. Today I had a long appointment. They started on time and always made sure I was comfortable and that the pain was managed so the procedure could’ve been completed without issues. Very courteous and professional staff.

Lucia B.

Awesome dental practice! The staff is friendly and efficient. Dr. Gilreath is thorough and versed in the latest technology and procedures. I love that he can make crowns in the office while you wait (so no walking around with a temporary crown for days or weeks). I would strongly recommend this dental practice!

I've been going here for about a little over a year now. I've had a few cleanings, a filling, and started Invisiline so far. Hands down, the best run dental office I've ever been to. In the past at other dental offices I often had to wait 30 or more minutes beyond my appointment time before being seen. At Dr. Gilreath's office I've been seen on time every time. They seem to have systems in place to make every part of your visit run smoothly. From how they took x-rays, to billing and appointments, to the work done by the hygienist/dentist, everything seems to run like a well oiled machine. On top of that all the staff are all friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The office space itself is also quite nice. Very clean, well maintained, and seems very "up to date" with their equipment. If you're looking for a dentist and are anywhere in the northwest metro area I would highly recommend Dr. Gilreath.
